Until further notice...

I am trying something new, although this semester is quite a busy one for me, so posting will still be a bit slow. I'm temporarily moving my thoughts over to tumblr.com, a trial period for now. There is a more than good chance I will remain there in the future. If you are interested in checking it out:

Holly Jolly Christmas

So, we finally got the tree up. Here's a peek:

I've gotten most of my Christmas shopping done, and I'm very excited about this year's Christmas time with the family. Everyone keeps talking about how tight things are right now as far as money and gifts are going, but everyone seems to be experiencing about the same situation. We are not doing presents at all with my family in Alabama this year, but I think it will be nice to just concentrate on spending time with family regardless of gifts. Myself, however...well, let's just say I get more excited about Christmas shopping than what I might be getting for Christmas (although I'm pretty damn excited about the hubby's gift!!! and my future guitar!). So, I sometimes tend to go a bit overboard, spending excessive amounts of time trying to find the "perfect" gift for everyone. Luckily, I think I've done pretty well this year, so hopefully everyone is happy with what they will be getting from us.

Aside from the fun of giving and getting, I hope everyone takes plenty of time in the coming weeks to remember the REAL reason for the season. As well as remembering that the holidays are a time to spend with family and to count our blessings. Many people out there are not as fortunate as myself, and Christmas time always reminds me of how truly blessed I am to have all that I do.

A few ways YOU can help someone else this Christmas:

*Christmas for the children of our fallen soldiers
*Christmas gifts for needy children
* It's COLD! Donate a coat!

Also, you can help in your neighborhood. Just do an internet search and tons of opportunities will come up. Don't let those warm, Christmasy feelings go to waste!

In other news, a very nice lady that lives in our building had her car broken into last night. She was parked right next to me, and apparently forgot to lock her doors. Someone saw the person entering her car and taking the stereo. I was also told later that they tried to get into my car, but gave up finding that it was locked. I JUST HAPPENED to lock my doors last night coming into the apartment, which is something that I only do about half the time. I am so glad that I did, and he couldn't get into my car. The good news is that they ended up catching the thief (who fled on foot once he heard the police, I think), and the man who called the cops went in to identify him. At least the story had a semi-happy ending.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful December so far. I will have to work on updating more frequently, but I've been occupied with other things, and haven't gotten to it. This week (finals!) marks the end of this semester however, so hopefully I will pick up the pace.

Movin' On Up

I am excited about several things lately, but I will just start with the one that I currently have in my possession. I got a new desk! I went from Wal-Mart piece of crap that someone left behind when they moved out:

(and yes it is dusty and dirty, because it was too ugly for me to care!)

to this:

It even has a pull out printer drawer:

All in all, I think it is a huge improvement. You haven't even heard the best part...I got this very nice desk for only $62!!! The only blemishes on the desk are a few scratches on the front of the hide-away keyboard tray..but who cares!?!? I have a hide-away keyboard tray! There is also a pull-out writing platform right above the top drawer, if you can kind-of see that small knob in the picture. Yay for me, I almost feel like having a conference call. Just because it would match my new desk.

In other news, I got a wonderful birthday/Christmas present from the family that I work for. I couldn't believe that they would get me such a "big" present, but I am so grateful for it, and now I can never be late again...mwuhahaha! They ordered me the Amazon Kindle, which I should be getting sometime after Thanksgiving. I'm assuming that if you are taking the time to read my blog, you may already know what the Kindle is. If not, you can check it out here.

Or watch this:

As if things couldn't possibly get any better...my adoring and wonderful husband is getting me the iPhone 3G for Christmas. Needless to say, I have been like a walking, talking, breathing advertisement for these products since I found out. The anticipation is just too much. The iPhone does so many wonderful things!!! I'm so excited, that I've been watching iPhone unboxing and first impressions videos on YouTube just to psych myself up even more. I know..I'm a nerd. My friend Emily already informed me I'm a dork for gushing about the Kindle, but you guys just need to understand what a book junkie I am. Not to mention the free, constant access to Wikipedia. Don't even get me started on that.

Now that I've finished my materialistic gadget tirade, I leave you with a few looks into my weekend:

James and I after our birthday Japanese dinner:

James is clearly getting annoyed with taking pictures:

We had a few drinks with dinner and now this is just getting silly:

This is after agreeing to take a "good" picture, and that will be the last one, I promise!

This is what happens when you tell James to look like he's so happy that he married his loving wife:

I'm pretty sure that any patience James showed with me taking pictures of him (which usually consists of me trying to "catch" him without his hand in his face) this weekend will be virtually non-existent after posting these on the internet. But they were just too great to keep all to myself.

Until something else happens...

Obsessive Obama Supporters

I first heard this parody on a morning radio show, and decided to look it up. This is absolutely hilarious, regardless of your political persuasion. However, if you were one of these people (you know who you are!), you may be offended. But you'll get over it. :)

Tuesday Update

I voted today! It didn't take any time at all. I'm kind of glad I waited until today because early voting was taking people several hours around here. I walked right in and voted, and I was out in about 20 minutes. This happened in the afternoon too! I brought two books, thinking I might finish one while waiting, and didn't even get a chance to start reading.

On another note, here is some banana bread that I made today. Yummy.

I probably won't be eating much of it because I'm counting points again!! I'm back to where I need to be on the scale, and I'm still losing. Hopefully I will meet a new goal by Christmas time. Another reason is that banana bread doesn't last too long around the husband.

In other good news, I have completed my graduation audit and WILL be graduating this Spring. I have started the application process for GA State already, so wish me luck! I also had some time this week to clean out our bonus room, aka "computer warehouse" and I can't believe that we might actually be able to use it for something other than storage. I'm very excited about finally fulfilling the potential of our square footage after living here for three years!

Our birthday's are next weekend (myself and the husband)! Yippy. Also, my friend Emily will be having a birthday on the 13th, so go visit her site and tell her happy birthday! Scorpio's unite!!

I'm very excited for holiday time!! The holidays are so wonderful. It's time to start burning the fire, baking banana bread and cinnamony-smelling things, and listening to Frank Sinatra while drinking hot cocoa. Ahh..I love this time of year!

Funny Funny

I've watched this like ten times and it's still hilarious.
